NetPlus®
NetPlus® is a durable fabric made from 100% postconsumer recycled fishing nets, developed by Bureo. It helps reduce ocean plastic pollution by turning discarded nets—one of the most harmful forms of marine waste—into materials used in products like Patagonia’s outerwear and hat brims. By repurposing this plastic, NetPlus® supports cleaner oceans and more responsible sourcing.
1% for the Planet
Since 1985, Patagonia has pledged 1% of sales to the preservation and restoration of the natural environment. They've awarded over $140 million in cash and in-kind donations to domestic and international grassroots environmental groups making a difference in their local communities. 1% for the Planet is an alliance of businesses that understand the necessity of protecting the natural environment. They understand that profit and loss are directly linked to its health, and are concerned with the social and environmental impacts of industry.
Fair Trade Certified™
Fair Trade Certified™ is a certification that ensures products are made according to rigorous social, environmental, and economic standards. For apparel, this means the factory workers who made the product receive additional wages through a community development fund, work in safer conditions, and are supported by policies that promote empowerment and sustainability. Through their partnership with Fair Trade USA™, Patagonia has been making Fair Trade clothing since 2014. Today, they are proud to offer more styles made in a Fair Trade Certified™ factory than any other apparel brand—over 90% of their line. To date, Patagonia’s Fair Trade program has impacted more than 85,000 workers around the globe.
Recycled Down
The recycled down that Patagonia uses is a mix of either 600- or 700-fill-power goose and duck down that is reclaimed from cushions, bedding and other used items that can’t be resold—the stuff that adds to our growing landfills. By plucking down from the trash, they reduce waste and contribute to the down-recycling stream.
