Product Info
A fantastic do-it-all snowboard that takes its inspiration from the past to create a new modern shape aesthetic. Derived from and innovated from the Danny Davis pro-model, Deep Thinker and Free Thinkers, along with the classic Women’s Story Board, the Counterbalance is quick, snappy, and powerful. It maintains a very approachable platform combined with its capabilitites and versatility. With two, non-gendered graphics, and a large size range, the Counterbalance can be a fit for most everyone who’s looking for a directional all-mountain freestyle board. Another hit from the Burton factory. All of us here at Berg’s are picking one of these up.
The Channel® mounting system gives you the easiest, most adjustable setup with bindings from all major brands (not just Burton's).

Directional w/ 8mm Taper
Directional is the classic snowboard shape, designed to be ridden with a slightly longer nose than tail to concentrate pop in the tail while providing plenty of float in powder and a smoother roll into your carve. 8mm taper makes for easy turning, providing the feel and focus of a directional board without anything holding you back from riding it like a twin.
Directional Camber
A Camber Bend advocates powerful turns and poppy precision, offering snappy suspension with weight distributed evenly across the entire board for smooth, continuous edge control from tip to tail. Entry rocker causes the nose to lift while camber under both feet maintains momentum and stability through deep-driving turns and variable conditions. The perfect mix for ripping turns in the pow and digging trenches on the groomers.
Skill Level
Because of the overall flex and feel of the Counterbalance, we would put it right in-between intermediate and advanced. This board is fantastic for the advanced intermediate rider looking for a bit more board under them. For the advanced rider, it will do whatever you need it to.
Flex Rating
The Counterbalance is on the stiffer side of medium for its flex. Not too soft, not too stiff. Like the perfect porridge.
Sintered WFO Base
WFO Base infuses specially formulated wax deep into the pores of the extra-absorbent, high-density sintered material, making it ultra-fast and ultra-durable for riding all season in any condition.
SuperFly II™ 700G Core
A FSC™ Certified wood core that is loaded with pop and alternates between hard and soft woods to reduce overall weight without limiting performance. Stronger and lighter woods target specific areas of the core to provide pop, strength, and reduced weight.
Dualzone EGD™
Engineered wood grain is positioned along the toe and heel edges on two continuous zones perpendicular to the core for more edge-hold, response, and strength.
Squeezebox
A core profiling that progressively mills out the core between the bindings, allowing for increased flex where you want it and stability where you need it.
Frostbite Edges
Frostbite extends your edges out slightly beneath your bindings for extra edge hold on hard and icy conditions. Less grabby than other traction features from other brands, Frostbite works when you need it and doesn't trip you up when you don't. Off-Axis tweaks this technologies to match the angles of your typical park stance.
Balanced Freeride Geometry
Setback camber and a sidecut that is centered on your stance to create a twin freestyle feel when riding flat base. On edge it turns tight and quick with the float and prowess expected from a directional deck.
Pro-Tip
A tapered tip and tail thickness reduces swing weight for easier mobility.
45° Carbon Highlights
45° Carbon Highlights is a tip to tail carbon layer reduces weight and contains 45° angled fibers, fine tuning the torsional flex to make a more aggressive ride.
Super Sap® Epoxy
Epoxies and resins are often petroleum-based, which is why Burton partnered with Entropy Resins on Super Sap®, a resin formulated with bio-based materials that reduce its carbon footprint by 50% over conventional all-petroleum based epoxies.
Infinite Ride
A special machine that allows Burton to overbuild their boards and then break them in so that they ride the same on the 100th day as they did on the first day out of the wrapper.
